Member Services

The Association was founded in 1989 by a small group of child care providers whose goal was to improve Family Child Care. Today we are a volunteer driven group of over forty members. As a non-profit organization, we provide support to members from Duncan to Salt Spring Island, including the Greater Victoria Region.

Membership in Southern Vancouver Island Child Care Association is open to any persons with a vested interest in quality child care in the Southern Region.

As a member your benefits would include:

Meetings and Workshops:

You have the opportunity to attend 9 workshops from September to June (excluding December). This is a wonderful networking opportunity with the child care community. All our workshops are available for members only.

Grievance Committee:

Have you ever had a question on how to answer a parent concern/complaint or licensing issue? Ever need help with where/who to write/send your concerns to? Wanted to ask someone questions about licensing regulations or policies? Wanted to respond to bad press but did not know where to start?  These and many more issues are what our Grievance Committee is available to our members for. The Grievance Committee handles any and all requests in a professional, private and confidential manner. See your newsletter for the committee listing.

Access to a laminator:

As a member you have access to a laminator for a minimal fee. The laminator is at Rena Laberge’s house at 677 Kent Road (#250-727-6176) and the cost for laminating is $0.75 a foot (18 inches wide). Please phone to make an appointment to use either the laminator. Another service that is available to members is you can bring laminating to a meeting and it will be done for you returned at the next meeting to be paid upon pick up (no extra cost for members to use this service).

Newsletters:

SVICCA puts out 5 newsletter issues per year (September, November, January, March and June) that is filled with current information on issues locally and from around the province, workshop opportunities for you and the community (post on your bulletin board), seasonal craft ideas, upcoming field trips and much more.
